Who is Lana
Lana Ponder was born in Cumberland, Mississippi and spent her life there until getting tied up with Jered Wieland. Since then she has lived in North Dakota, Texas, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, and Illinois.

Lana's Family
Lana has a daughter, Heather, son, Tracey, mother, Fanell, and sisters Shirley and Linda who all reside in Mississippi. Lana and Jered have sons Brett and Jordan and live in Frankfort, Illinois.

The Diagnosis
In June of 2007 Lana was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer and had surgery performed at Northwestern in August. Unfortunately, the disease had spread further than originally believed and Lana was upgraded to stage 3C. This prompted many additional treatments.

Remission
Lana was in remission throughout 2008 and believed to be cured

July 2009
In July 2009 follow-up tests showed the disease was actually back and had spread significantly causing her situation to be deemed stage 4 and terminal.

Lana has not given up and hopes to continue fighting, but the two year ordeal has drained the family’s resources so any continued efforts to beat the disease will require help.
